The CFATF Secretariat presents a new article series on the Stages of Asset Recovery, designed to provide insights into the key phases of identifying, tracing, confiscating, recovering, management and disposal criminal assets. The series aims to strengthen understanding of effective asset recovery practices and the relevant FATF Standards.
The first article in the series, “Stages of Asset Recovery: Identification of Assets,” was published on July 17th, 2026. It focuses on the critical starting point of the asset recovery process, asset identification and case initiation, highlighting the importance of identifying criminal assets early and initiating financial investigations to lay the foundation for successful asset recovery.
