Barbados, along with Namibia and Thailand, will participate in the FATF-Style Regional Body (FSRB) jurisdictions Guest Initiative, commencing with the October 2026 FATF Plenary. Barbados will become the third CFATF Member country to participate in the initiative under its own flag, joining the FATF Plenary and Working Group Meetings for a one-year Plenary cycle.
The Cayman Islands and Jamaica were the first and second CFATF Member Countries to participate in the initiative, joining in October 2024 and October 2025, respectively, during the Mexican Presidency of the FATF.
The Honourable Wilfred Abrahams, SC, MP, Attorney General of Barbados and Chairman of the CFATF, welcomed the opportunity, emphasising that participation in the FATF Guest Initiative provides Barbados with an avenue to contribute to the organisation’s deliberations and work. He expressed appreciation to FATF President Giles Thompson and the organisation and affirmed Barbados’ commitment to contributing fully to the FATF’s policies and plans over the coming year.
Minister Abrahams further noted that Barbados will use the opportunity to represent its national and regional interests, highlight issues of importance to the region, contribute to the strengthening of global standards, and support efforts to further enhance a robust and effective regulatory environment.
